World Wellbeing Week: How eating well can enhance your wellbeing

world wellbeing week

27th June to 1st July is World Wellbeing Week 2022. Wellbeing has never been so important to our lives, with the pandemic bringing changes to our daily lives that previously we never thought possible, with people adapting mentally and physically all over the world.

At Prep Perfect, we champion keeping on top of your physical wellbeing, but we also really encourage our customers to make time for their mental health too. Our mental wellbeing is just as important as our physical wellbeing, and the two go hand-in-hand.

Looking after your wellbeing

World Wellbeing Week is the ideal time to start focussing on your wellbeing, and there are some simple steps that everyone can follow in order to feel healthier, happier, and more relaxed.

For example, drinking more water is one of the very best things you can do for your mind and body. Water is the most abundant substance in the human body and is an essential nutrient to maintain our health. As well as the numerous physical benefits that drinking water brings, such as flushing out bacteria and protecting your organs, staying hydrated can affect your mindset too. Water clears out the toxins that can impair brain function, and carries nutrients to your brain, which is why drinking water has been linked to faster decision making and improved brain performance.

Getting enough sleep is also key to a healthy body and mind: we all need to relax and replenish properly in order for us to be our very best selves. Mediation is another great way to look after your mental wellbeing, and we also recommend spending time on your hobbies: it’s good to step away from work sometimes and do things just because we enjoy them!

Healthy eating and wellbeing

We should also never underestimate the impact that healthy eating can have on our wellbeing. Eating a diet full of nutrients isn’t just great for you physically, but mentally too, and eating well should be a priority for anyone focussing on improving their wellbeing.

‘Eating well’ is about understanding how to nourish our bodies so we can make better food choices that leave us feeling healthier and happier. Eating a balanced diet with all the correct nutrients has a big impact on us physically and mentally. Many people who suffer from stress and anxiety find that nutrition can really help: when combined with regular exercise, nutritious food can give your brain the fuel it needs to better fight anxiety and increase your emotional wellbeing.
