Painkillers alleviate headache by relaxing blood vessels in the brain, and peppermint tea can actually do the same thing without the need for you to take any unnecessary medication. The tea contains menthol, which can help to increase blood flow and provide a cooling effect to relieve pain.
Soothes stomach upsets
The tea is used by many to help soothe a number of stomach ailments, and is often consumed after a heavy meal to put a stop to any potential stomach problems. The tea’s soothing steam can act as an effective decongestant, making a hot cup of the stuff great for any antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory needs.

As well as the physical benefits to your body that peppermint tea boasts, it can also function to improve your mental health too. Those who practice mindfulness and meditation often use herbal brews such as peppermint tea, for their calming effects. The tea is a natural stress reducer, and can even play a part in enhancing memory retrieval.
Making peppermint tea a part of your diet
These benefits and more are what makes peppermint tea a great, health boosting, caffeine-free beverage that can be consumed at any time of the day. If you feel like introducing a cup or two into your healthy meal prep plans, making yourself some couldn’t be easier.
Get yourself some fresh or dried peppermint leaves, which you can buy as tea bags if you prefer. You’ll need one tea bag, or one tablespoon of crushed leaves per cup of water. Just boil the water, add the peppermint, and steep it for between 5 to 10 minutes depending on how strong you’d like it. Then strain out the bag or leaves.
It’s best to drink the tea hot if you really want to take advantage of the health benefits, and you can always add a little sugar or honey if you really want to. Peppermint also blends well with other herbs, such as ginger, lavender and fennel seeds, so feel free to experiment with your herbal tea.
