The winter months are actually the perfect time to start preparing your perfect summer body, even though the dark mornings and cold weather may say otherwise!
Here’s why summer bodies aren’t really made in the summer and what you can do to start getting your body ready for our summer holiday.
Why “Quick Fix” Approaches Don’t Work
The great thing about taking the longer road towards getting a summer body is that time is definitely on your side.
Too many of us wait until it’s nearly summer before we start thinking about getting beach ready and this doesn’t leave much time to make it happen.
And if you’ve done little fitness work for months before this, the task is even harder. You’re probably not just a matter of weeks away from realistically having the beach body of your dreams at this point so it makes sense to give yourself the time you really need.
When you’re pushed for time and want quick results, the “quick fix” approach to slimming down and toning up can seem like the ideal plan. Trouble is, this road tends to be very hard work, miserable and unsustainable. A less extreme and more measured plan of action is a much better bet, and a lot healthier to boot!
Laying the groundwork during the winter means you have plenty of time to meet your goals and your plans can be a lot more realistic. You don’t need to do anything drastic in your efforts to move things along and it’s a lot less stressful. Sounds good, right?

First of all, you need to get things clear in your mind about what you want your summer body to look like. For example, do you want to lose a bit of stubborn weight, build more muscle or just tone up? Whatever your ultimate aim(s), knowing what you want to achieve by the summer means you can track your progress and set smaller goals towards them.
Keep Things Varied
Switching things up every so often with your fitness regime doesn’t just keep things interesting; it also helps your body to burn fat more efficiently. Great news if you’re hoping to be a little bit sleeker and leaner for the summer!
Reap the benefits by changing up how you exercise on a fairly regular basis. For example, if you’ve been doing a lot o cardio work, you can try doing high intensity exercises
Stock Up on Fruits and Vegetables
Clean eating is a really big part of prepping for your summer body, especially in the winter months. At this time of year, lots of us crave comfort foods and unconsciously veer away from healthier options.
Making good food choices all year round means you’ve got less to try to undo as we move towards summer and makes it a lot easier to reach your ultimate body goal.
One of the best moves you can make involves plenty of fruits and vegetables. We all know the importance of eating these every day, especially greens. It’s why we make greens such a big part of our meal plans! Fruits and vegetables are highly nutritious and also low in calories.
